Miami is the second least affordable place in the country
In fact, we need 210,000 more homes to respond to this housing gap, but: nearly half of Miami’s households pay more than they can afford in rent or mortgage, Public schools have identified about 9,000 young people struggling with housing, and over 1,000 adults are sleeping on our streets every night. But there is hope!
OUR MISSION
Since 1985, Miami Homes For All has worked to end and prevent homelessness in Miami-Dade County.
We believe that everyone in Miami deserves to lead a dignified, healthy, and vibrant life. That includes everyone from those struggling to make ends meet to those experiencing homelessness. Armed with the best research available, and convinced that together we can accomplish more, we collaborate with people across the entire spectrum of our community to identify the best ideas and to turn our vision into reality
Affordable Housing
We create the space to have authentic conversations about not only problems but solutions. Our research and policy recommendations are aimed at creating new homes affordable to those earning a wide range of incomes, preserving existing housing stock, and keeping people and families in the homes they already have.
Youth Homelessness
Miami Homes For All is the backbone support to The HOMY Collective — Helping Our Miami-Dade Youth. Composed of over 100 agencies, we work together to make sure our community’s young people have safe and stable housing in addition to the wraparound services that will grow them into resilient adults.
Adult Homelessness
Since our founding in 1985, we have collaborated with service providers and system leaders to increase access to shelter. Today, our mission to end and prevent homelessness also strives to achieve a continuum of affordable housing solutions for everyone — from those experiencing homelessness to those a paycheck away from it.
OUR WORK
At our core, Miami Homes For All is a champion for residents across Miami-Dade county who struggle to find a safe and affordable place to live. Through advocacy, research, and coalition-building, MHFA brings the right information and people to the table in order to affect sustainable policies that create and preserve more affordable housing.
Publications
Research, data, and best practices are the underpinnings of our work. We partner with Florida’s leading academic institutions to design data-driven, community-informed solutions to our community’s housing needs.
